Twitter has found a successful way for advertisers and brands to pack even more content in to their 140 character tweets this week by allowing users to share up to four images in a tweet. The feature is also helping to give visual appeal to the otherwise very plain and link heavy Twitter newsfeed. The social media was already starting to add more visual appeal to their interface earlier this year when they made pictures automatically displayed, rather than having to be clicked on. This was a big step forward but the picture collages are an even bigger step in the right direction. Visuals draw in consumers and make your content more appealing, which is ideal for any brand that is trying to generate awareness to their new innovations or brand image. They can now tell a whole story in a few pictures and instantly get their message across, rather than relying on consumers to click their link and follow it to receive more information.
Some brands have already adopted the collages and are using them to tell brand stories. Several example were brought up in adage.com, in an article entitles “Brands experiment with Twitter’s new photo collages”, by Cotton Delo. The first is a contest created by Meow Mix cat food. They are telling the Cat Starter story and then engage their audience by telling them to vote. The brand, Izze, owned by Pepsi, hashtagged #ThirstyThursday and highlights four recipes that can be made using Izze sparkling juices. The last example sited is General Electric’s photo collage that breaks up their new tagline (which is also featured in their ads) in four frames. All of these brands have creatively used Twitter’s new feature to their advantage and successfully reached larger amounts of people just by adding visuals to their social media campaigns. I am excited to see what other brands will do with the new feature and also to see what else Twitter has in store for us this year.
That is probably the WORST title I could have come up with. It’s cliche, it’s something that a girl who makes duck faces would write, but I don’t care. I have been up since 5 and this is the best I can come up with. It’s also exactly what this year is going to be for me.
Without giving too many details, these past 365 days have been an emotional wreck for me. I thought I had everything figured out, thought I knew what I wanted, who my friends were, who cared and who didn’t. Almost none of it turned out to be true. And that is okay. I just need to turn my life around, get my shit together, and be a little bit selfish. Not in a bad way, but in a I-won’t-let-other-people-control-my-life kind of way.
I have decided to make a conscious effort to take better care of myself. I have been working out, eating better, being somewhat critical (again, in a good way), and opening up to new friendships while trying to muster up the strength to let go of old ones and other comforts that are doing nothing for me.
I need this. I deserve this. This year can really only get better from here if I allow it to. So I will allow it to.
Every morning I spend some time before class scrolling through huffingtonpost.com and most of the time I end up reading a few articles and then signing off. This morning a crazy headline caught my eye, it read “Cadaver Selfie: Alabama … Continue reading →
Let me start by saying that I had a great weekend! Friday night my BF and I had a big ole family dinner at my house. Saturday my mom and I went shopping. I tried on a bunch of crazy … Continue reading →
Ladies and gents…. in one month it will be the time of times. The time that I turn 21. I get a new license, a sparkly new dress and a new sense of freedom! I can’t even take it. After living for a year in Italy and having the ultimate freedom, it was really hard to come back to Chicago and have to stay home while all of my +21 friends went out. Well now I can be that girl who goes out with her friends.
Living in Italy taught me a lot about freedom. I got to travel with friends, stay out til the sun came out and not have to think about anything but having fun. While that won’t exactly be the case next month (I’ll still have school, work, etc.) I am looking forward to getting to be more social again. Seeing pictures of your friends at bars without you on facebook can suck. BUT, next month I’ll be included again and I can’t wait.
Also, I get to pick out a new dress! Let’s face it, that’s honestly going to be the best part. I’ve been looking online at Rickety Rack and I can’t even choose which one to buy because they are all so beautiful. I think I’ll go with lots of sparkle 😉
For a couple of years now I have been hearing about the no ‘poo method. Basically, you ditch shampoo and conditioner that has harsh chemicals (ex: sulfates) because they are damaging to hair. What you do instead is massage your scalp with a combo of baking soda and water and then rinse it out. Then you rinse your hair with vinegar.
I was really nervous to try this because they say that it takes your hair a little while to get used to the new method, making it really greasy, but I am determined to try it this time. I am completely ready to go through the awkward stage of having greasy hair for a while because of the amazing benefits that I’ve heard about. Your hair is supposed to be soft and shiny and the curls will be bouncier.
I’ll post pictures throughout the process every now and then so that you can all see my hair’s progress!
It’s starting to get cooler out in Chicago! The air is crisp, the lake is crashing waves on the shore and fall trends are emerging! I absolutely love fall for so many reasons. The jewel tones, the layering, the scarves, … Continue reading →
As some of you know, I am an advertising and public relations major at Loyola University and, as a junior, I am really starting to get in to my communications courses. I had the opportunity to take a special topics class that focuses on the artistic side of advertising and I LOVE it. It’s exactly what I want to do after I graduate so I want to do the best I can in this class.
Our first project is to brand ourselves. I love this idea because it is going to give me a chance to make my resume really unique, as well as my business cards and portfolio. We are starting by making a logo for our own brand. This is where I kind of freaked out. How do I define myself in a logo? What can I make that is going to tell people exactly who I am and what I can do for them?
Tomorrow we are going to start playing around in InDesign and once I finally have the logo out I’ll upload it so you can all see how I decided to capture my personality in a logo 🙂
